🦌 The Gentle Giant

Some creations don’t announce themselves with noise.
They enter the studio quietly — with a presence that cannot be ignored.

So it was with him.
The Gentle Giant.

A majestic stag’s head — powerful in expression, mighty in antlers, yet calm at its core.

The first time I held him in my hands, I felt it:
This was no restless youth.
No wild creature.

Before me stood something — someone — who had lived.
His age was present in every fiber.
Not as weakness, but as dignity.

A spirit like a still lake at dawn.
Gentle, grounded, wise.

I began to give him a face.
Not just any face —
One that would not overshadow his inner greatness, but highlight it.

I chose a material I love: nuts.
Small metal circles — like tiny planets to me — structured, connecting, strong.

Under my hands, they shaped themselves into an expression that truly fit him.
He allowed it.
As if he himself was guiding the process.

Like many of my works, it wasn’t mere shaping.
It was a conversation.

Between him and me.
Between fire and steel.
Between the old and the newly born.

His eyes — placed there deliberately — now gaze out into the world.
Not threatening. Not fierce.
But watchful, like a guardian.
Not a guard.

They are open.
Seeing.
Alive.

Now that he is complete, he is ready.
Ready to watch over a home that deserves him.

A space that doesn’t just display him — but welcomes him.
Because those who look at him will feel it:

He is not decoration.
He is a being with history.
With grace.
With presence.

With a quiet power that doesn’t just fill a wall —
It fills the room.

And here he is.
On the wall.
Mighty.
Proud.
And still, so gentle.

The Gentle Giant.

He won’t stay in my studio.
But a part of his calm strength will remain.
As a reminder —
that even greatness can be quiet.
